There is something beautiful and magnificent, yet terribly frightening, about natural phenomena like tsunamis, volcanoes, earthquakes, or tornadoes. They can amaze while destroying everything in their path. That's how I felt when I examined my sister's back for the first time. It resembled a landscape—mountains that could not be moved. I knew she had scoliosis, but I never paid much attention to it before; I thought it was inside the body, so I couldn't see it. However, one day my sister asked me to measure her back to track her progress as she does exercises to gradually change the muscular structure to support her spine. Seeing it both amazed me and brought a simultaneous feeling of pain for my sister having to go through this. This series of photos is an exploration of the human body, abnormal formations, pain, and fascination, approached in an abstract landscape style inspired by Sugimoto's Conceptual Forms.
